Archery is an inter-league CSAA sport for both males and females. St. Michael's goal is to teach archery and self-confidence through the sport. No prior experience is necessary to join.

Grades: 4th-8th

Registration: September through October

Season: November through March

Practices: Practices start in early November and take place 2 times a week at St. Michael. One practice occurs on late Sunday afternoon, and the other is on a weeknight. Elementary (grades 4th-5th) and Middle School (6th-8th) practice separately. Archers are recommended to attend both practices, but it is okay if they can only make one.

Tournaments: The first tournament is usually in early December but pick up in frequency after the start of the new year. Tournaments are held on Friday evenings, as well as all day on Saturdays, and Sundays. Archers are assigned a one-hour designated time to shoot for each tournament, so they are not required to be on site longer than their assigned shooting time. Also, it is okay if you cannot make a tournament.

Uniforms & Equipment: Each archer receives a personalized St. Michael jersey to wear during tournaments. Experienced archers may choose to purchase their own personal bow, but St. Michael supplies bows for all archers who do not have their own. St. Michael coaches can assist in choosing the right bow for your child based on their needs. (Right-handed, left-handed, loose tension, tight tension, etc.) All bows must remain on-site at St. Michael after each practice, unless your child has permission from a coach to take it home.

CSAA Sport: Yes. St. Michael Archery is also a member of the National Archery in Schools Program (NASP), which is the governing body for the sport.

Grades: 3rd-8th

Practices may take place immediately after school and early evenings on weekdays, to weeknights from 8-10pm (grades 7th-8th only). Gym availability is ongoing challenge for St. Michael and other area schools. With approximately 25+ teams each season, it is impossible to schedule all practices at St. Michael. Therefore, you should expect at least one--and sometimes both--practices to be scheduled in a non-St. Michael facility. Younger teams may also be required to share courts.

Some teams may play in weeknight or weekend jamborees. Post-season games may occur on weeknights and/or weekends in early to mid-February. Only 5th-8th grade teams participate in the post-season CSAA tournament.
